Recent Jewellery Finds

Close to where I live there is a large store which is made up of a few different high street shops such as Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Warehouse etc...kind of like a mini-department store. Recently they had a very generous sale on where many items were half price. I rather hastily removed all of the packaging and price tags but I know that nothing I bought from them cost over £3. The alphabet earrings in the above photo were from Miss Selfridge, around £2 and I thought they were a bit novel and cute and very me. I like wearing a mismatching colour combo. This ring I had spotted a long time ago in Miss Selfridge and always thought it was very pretty but held off buying it because there was always something else that would catch my eye more than this. It's very pretty and sparkly but I can only wear it for going out as it's a bit too much for day time I feel. This was £3 down from £10. I recently lost my silver leaf earrings from Accessorize, well more to the point I lost one of them which still means I can't wear them unless I want to start a trend of wearing completely mismatched earrings, which I don't. These weren't an exact replacement but I like them just as much. They look kind of old and rustic which I like. They were £2 instead of £4 from Topshop.
The earrings above were not one of my sale finds but from one of my favourite jewellery shops which can be found in Greenwich market. The shop is called Autumn and May, (and you can click here to find out more about them) and they do some wonderful pieces of jewellery. Occasionally I like to buy something from there because I know it's highly unlikely I'll see someone else wearing it and the quality is far better than high street clothes shop jewellery! I bought these little orange triangle studs as I found them quite cute and needed just a basic stud that I can rely on for wearing to work and such like. They remind me of pizza slices oddly.

Accessorize Latest Finds

Accessorize is pretty much my favourite place to buy accessories from. I picked up two pairs of earrings from there recently. A silver pair in this filligree leaf design which is also available in gold and has the matching necklace in both silver and gold. These were priced at £12.
I also got these cute gold bird stud earrings for only £4. I didn't mind paying the bit extra for the leaf ones because I don't wear drop earrings like this everyday, I prefer them for going out. Studs on the other hand tend to get worn out more quickly so £4 is enough to pay for a fashion pair like this.

Recent MAC and Topshop finds

Really all I wanted to buy this weekend was a new lipstick, but it's hard to buy just one thing! I was after a bright pink shade, a la Cheryl Cole, one that I can wear for going out, or any time I'm feeling a bit more daring. I rarely stray from safe nude shades on my lips so felt like I wanted to experiment a little. Pink Nouveau was my lipstick of choice, it seemed to me a perfect barbie pink, not the brightest pink I saw, but what I'd describe as the "truest" pink. It's a satin finish which I find has a lot more staying power than the Lustre finish. It's also more matte which I find I really need to be careful with because it can be a little drying. Along with this I got a blusher in Peaches, which is a sheertone blush, without shimmer. I'd describe it as similar to Springsheen but without the shimmer, it's very matte which I think makes it more appealing to most people.
Above is a swatch of the blush on top, and the lipstick below. I will at some point do a more detailed review/comparison of these products. Now on to the Topshop goodies. First up, this layered short sleeved top which is a mint green colour. I bought this to go with the high waisted black skirt I showed you as this top is cropped and the shape will complement it nicely. I'm loving all the pastel, nude colours that are about at the moment, it's very flirty and feminine. I like wearing this top to smarten up jeans too, and although it's cropped it doesn't really show much which I like, possibly because of my shortness! I'm not sure how I'd feel about wearing this if I was taller. This is not the best background for the top to be against for you to see it properly! Here's another staple top I bought. Again this is cropped. I like the loose sleeves, and the button detail down the middle. It's just a basic top but looks great with jeans, and it's available in a range of nude and earthy tones.

I love this jumper too. It's very simple, just a plain black jumper, but I love the gold button detailing on the sleeves. I think it's a really nice touch. This is what I love about Topshop, the little details. I like to wear this with a black waisted belt, just because it's not very fitted, and the belt helps to give a nicer figure.

Finally, I had my eyes on these a while ago, but for some reason or another, managed not to buy them. I had to go back to buy them this weekend though because I think they are quite unique. The pattern reminds me of peacock feathers, but they're on a thin piece of metal which is a nice twist, I've not really seen any like this before.

In other news, I went to the Affordable Homes Show in Westminster yesterday to find out some more information for people buying their first home in London. It was quite interesting, if somewhat of a mindfield, there's so much to take into account when buying your first flat. Me and my boyfriend had our first viewing today and it was so exciting thinking about getting our very own place. I love my flat where I live now but it can get a little tedious sharing with another person. At least now the ball's started rolling and I can feel more excited about what's on it's way. Hope everyone's had a great weekend, enjoy what's left of it!

No more naked ears...

I had a healthy start to the day today, i’m not sure what came over me but I woke up really early, went for a jog and made a tasty, nutritious smoothie when i got back in. I love how satisfied and smug I feel when I’m jogging, in between the breathlessness and tight chest, it’s nice to feel like I’m doing something good for my body. Also, I’m not sure why but when I see a fellow jogger i want to high five them on passing! I’ve resisted the urge so far, but the thought of it makes me smile.
Another thing that made me happy today is my package arrived from allergymatters.com. At the start of May I got my ears pierced, at the ripe old age of 22! I partly blame my Mum because she only got hers done a couple of years ago and this must be the reason I never got them done as a child. I also did not really like the thought of getting anything pierced, because as I said when I was younger, I liked my naked ears! Anyway, the initial six weeks where I had to keep the starter studs in was over and I rushed to buy some new earrings to replace them. I was convinced that the earrings were allowed to be either 24k gold, stainless steel or silver, but apparently silver wasn’t on the list. I’d already bought these from a shop called Autumn and May in Greenwich market, it's a lovely little shop that sells a lot of contemporary, unusual looking pieces...I'm loving the cute box they came in....before it was too late and after reading about people with allergies to silver, I didn’t think it was worth risking putting them in whilst my ears were still in the healing process because if I was allergic I’d probably end up having to let them heal and go through the whole thing again. I wanted to find a pair of stainless steel studs rather than gold and because they have to be kept in for another 2 months I wanted to keep it simple. I really love pearl effect earrings, not just in the traditional pearl colour but all metallic colours too. So I was happy to find this pair: on allergymatters.com which are very similar to the silver, white pearl ones I bought, just a tiny bit bigger and they are a light grey pearl rather than white. I’m just really glad to get those starter studs out of my ears to be honest, and now I can’t wait til I can start buying all types of earrings, especially long dangly ones. So here's a bit of a wishlist:
